Essential Oil Spotlight - Melaleuca (Tea Tree)

Melaleuca (Tea Tree)

From spring cleaning to cosmetic care, Melaleuca is one of the most versatile essential oils. Hailing from Australia, the melaleuca plant was a daily necessity for the early natives. The aborigines would crush the leaves and inhaled the scent of the oil to promote feelings of clear breathing  or apply the leaves directly to the skin for a cooling effect. As time profressed, the knowledge of melaleuca's numerous benefits spread worldwide. Also known as "tea tree" oil, Melaleuca is renowned for its cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the skin. Few people know, however, that it promotes healthy immune function* and protects against environmental and seasonal threats as well.

doTERRA's Melaleuca oil is distilled via a steaming method and comes from the plant in Australia.

How to Use:

Aromatically:
Diffuse to help cleanse the air in your home.

Topically:
For occasional skin irritations, apply 1-2 drops onto affected area.
Combine with facial cleanser or moisturize for added cleansing property.
Apply to fingernails and toenails after showering to purify and keep nails looking healthy.
Add a drop to your shampoo each wash to help keep your hair strong and healthy.

Internally:
Add 1-2 drops to water, citrus drinks, or veggie caps to support healthy immune system function.

Fun Fact:
Bundawalbin Creek in Australia is surrounded by Australian tea trees and is held sacred by the aborigines. As the sticky tea tree oil leaves fell into the creek, they created waters that natives still consider "magical healing waters" today.
